About

Bill Esteb’s path to becoming one of chiropractic’s most recognized patient education voices began not in a clinic, but in a radio booth. After leaving Evergreen State College in 1973 to pursue a broadcasting internship, he developed a foundation in clear, purposeful communication that would define his career. That training carried him through copywriting roles at advertising agencies across Colorado Springs, Seattle, and San Francisco before landing him at International Media Systems, a film production company where a chance encounter with two chiropractors changed everything.

When Drs. Guy Riekeman and Joe Flesia introduced him to chiropractic in January of 1981, Esteb didn’t just observe — he became a patient himself, immersing in the experience to inform what would become the landmark Peter Graves patient education video. That project launched a decades-long collaboration with the profession. By 1985 he was a guest speaker at Renaissance’s advanced seminar, and in 1999 he founded Patient Media, a company dedicated to chiropractic patient education resources. He has since authored twelve books examining the doctor-patient relationship, insights drawn from his own long-term care experience and extensive patient focus groups.

A 2005 partnership with Steve Anson of Perth, Australia gave rise to Perfect Patients, which today supports the digital presence of more than 2,000 chiropractic practices worldwide with a team of nearly 100 marketing professionals. Esteb has carried the chiropractic message across more than two million air miles, and continues to produce patient education tools and author the widely read Monday Morning Motivation, his weekly communication to the profession.

A chiropractic patient for over four decades and counting, Bill Esteb remains one of the most articulate outside voices the profession has — someone who has chosen, week after week, to invest in chiropractic not because he had to, but because he believes in it.
